Beach Paradise Candle In A Tin: Our Tropical Coconut Escape for the Last of the Summer Nights
Share
Late August has a particular feeling to it. The nights are still light enough to sit outside, but there is a faint edge in the evening air that tells you summer will not last forever. It is exactly the kind of moment our Beach Paradise candle was made for.
We wanted to write honestly about this one rather than just sell it to you, because tropical fragrances are one of those categories people are often nervous about. They can tip into being sickly, or smell more like a chemical air freshener than an actual holiday. So here is what Beach Paradise actually smells like, who it suits, and where it might not be the right pick.
What is actually in it
Beach Paradise is built around creamy coconut and soft florals, resting on a base of smooth vanilla and warm amber. It opens fairly true to a classic coconut suncream note, but it settles quickly into something rounder and less sharp, thanks to the floral heart working alongside it. The vanilla and amber base is what stops it feeling one-dimensional. Rather than coconut and nothing else, you get warmth and depth underneath that carries through to the last burn.
It is a relaxed, easy-going scent rather than a bold, room-announcing one. If you love statement fragrances that hit you the second you walk in the door, this is not that. If you want something that sits gently in the background of a room and makes it feel a bit more like a holiday, this is exactly that.
Handmade in Glossop, made to actually perform
Every Beach Paradise candle is made by hand here in Glossop using our standard maximum fragrance inclusion, meaning we load the wax with as much fragrance oil as it will properly hold without affecting the burn quality. The 180g Candle In A Tin gives you a genuinely useful burn time for the price, and because it comes in a tin rather than glass, it travels well if you want to take a bit of this scent on holiday with you, or gift it to someone heading off on their own late-summer trip.
Who this suits
If you already love coconut suncream, pina colada candles, or anything in the broad "holiday in a jar" category, this will feel instantly familiar and comforting. It also works well for anyone who finds heavier, spicier autumn candles a bit much and wants to hold onto something lighter for a few more weeks before switching over to the amber and woody scents that suit the colder months.
It is a genuinely versatile one for a bathroom, a bedroom, or a conservatory, anywhere you want a soft, warm-weather scent without it becoming overpowering in a smaller space.
Being honest about the trade-offs
We would rather tell you the trade-offs than pretend there are none. Beach Paradise is a soft, blended scent rather than a sharp, single-note coconut hit, so if you are after something that smells purely and intensely of coconut and nothing else, you may find this a touch too rounded for your taste. It also, like most lighter summer fragrances, has a slightly shorter scent throw than our heavier, amber-based candles such as Amber Flame, simply because of how the fragrance profile is built. That is not a fault, just a different kind of candle for a different kind of room and mood.
If you want the same scent with more intensity or for a bigger space, it is also available as a 500ml reed diffuser, a room spray for a quicker top-up, and a wax melt if you prefer not to burn an open flame.
How to get the most out of it
As with any of our candles, the first burn matters. Let the wax pool reach the edge of the tin on that first light, and keep the wick trimmed to around 5mm before each burn. Because Beach Paradise is on the softer, more delicate end of our scent range, a freshly trimmed wick makes a genuinely noticeable difference to how much of that coconut and vanilla you actually get in the room.
Why we made it
As a family-run business, a lot of our fragrance decisions come from what we would actually want burning in our own homes. Beach Paradise came out of wanting a scent that did not disappear the moment summer technically ended on the calendar. British summers are short enough as it is, and there is something genuinely nice about being able to hold onto that feeling for a bit longer, at a fraction of the price of the big-name holiday-inspired candles on the market.
Try it for yourself
