Dusk Candle and Reed Diffuser: Our Most Sophisticated Scent for Evenings In

Meet Dusk: The Quiet Confidence of Our Premium Collection

Not every candle needs to announce itself the second you walk in the door. Dusk is one of those scents that works more like good lighting than a spotlight, it sets a mood rather than fighting for attention. It is part of our Premium Collection, hand poured in the UK, and it has quietly become one of the scents our customers come back to reorder without us ever pushing it particularly hard.

If you have ever wanted a fragrance for the evening hours specifically, the point in the day when things slow down, this is the one worth knowing about.

The Notes: What Makes Dusk So Distinctive

Dusk is built around black truffle and ylang ylang, a combination that is unusual for home fragrance and part of why it stands out. Black truffle brings a dark, earthy depth that you do not often find outside of high-end perfumery, while ylang ylang adds a soft, slightly exotic floral warmth that stops the scent from feeling heavy. Fresh bergamot lifts the top notes so the overall effect is sensuous rather than overpowering, and a delicate hint of something sweet rounds it off underneath.

Its a fragrance that reads as sophisticated and a little mysterious, closer to a fine fragrance than a typical home scent, which is exactly the gap it is designed to fill.

Candle or Reed Diffuser: Which Should You Choose

Both formats carry the Dusk fragrance well, but they suit slightly different needs, and being honest about the difference matters more than just telling you to buy both.

The Dusk candle gives you the fuller, warmer version of the scent, especially once its been burning for twenty minutes or so and the melt pool has formed. It is the better choice if you want a strong hot throw for a specific evening, entertaining, or simply making one room feel special for a couple of hours. The trade-off is that it only fills the room while its lit, and you do need to keep an eye on any open flame.

The Dusk reed diffuser is the better choice if you want a constant, lower-level presence of the scent in a hallway, bedroom or bathroom without needing to light anything. It is gentler and more subtle than the candle at full burn, which suits smaller rooms or spaces where you want the fragrance felt rather than noticed, and it needs no attention beyond an occasional flip of the reeds. If you are torn, our 500ml reed diffuser gives noticeably more fragrance throw than the smaller size, closer to what youd get from the candle.

When to Reach for Dusk

This is not a fragrance we would necessarily recommend for a bright morning kitchen or a kids playroom, it is built for evenings. Think dinner parties, a bath after a long day, date nights in, or simply the couple of hours before bed when you want the living room to feel a little more considered. It also works well in a home office if you use that room mostly after hours, since the scent has an almost calming, grounding quality without tipping into anything cloying.

How to Get the Most From It

For the candle, trim the wick to around 5mm before every burn and let the wax melt fully across the surface on the first light, this protects the scent throw of every burn after. For the reed diffuser, flip the reeds every few days, more often in a warm room, and position it somewhere with a little airflow rather than a sealed corner, so the fragrance can actually move through the space.

Is Dusk Right for You?

Its worth being upfront that Dusk is a distinctive, slightly unusual fragrance rather than a safe, universally-loved one. If you gravitate toward fresh, clean or fruity scents day to day, it may read as too rich or heavy for your taste, and something like our Crystal Sky or Oceanic scents would likely suit you better. But if you like fragrances with a bit of depth and character, the kind that feel more like a fine perfume than a typical home candle, Dusk is one of the more interesting scents in our range, and a fraction of the price youd pay for a comparable luxury candle brand.

You can find both formats, along with the rest of our hand-poured range, in our Premium Candles collection.
